About The Position

The Tile Shop Technician is primarily responsible for pouring, assembling, and disassembling tile molds in a manufacturing environment. This role supports daily tile shop operations through safe, efficient mold preparation and handling. As business needs require, the technician will also assist with refractory installation and repair work at customer sites or internal facilities. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to safety, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in industrial environments.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to work outdoors and at customer sites as needed
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 55–75 pounds
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and stair climbing
  • Ability to work in environments with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hearing and respiratory protection

Nice To Haves

  • Tile/mold shop experience preferred; refractory experience a plus
  • Forklift certification preferred, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Pour, assemble, and disassemble tile molds
  • Operate hand and power tools including impact wrenches, grinders, sanding tools, and tile sanding rocks
  • Prepare molds for production, including cleaning, inspection, and minor repairs
  • Assist with handling and movement of molds and materials within the tile shop
  • Follow work instructions and complete assigned tasks to meet production deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tile shop work area
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance on tools and tile shop equipment
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Assist with refractory lining, relining, and repair of furnaces, ladles, tundishes, and related equipment
  • Support refractory installation methods including bricklaying, pouring, ramming, pumping, gunite, ceramic fiber, and firebrick installation
  • Assist with cleaning and preparing equipment for refractory repair and post-mortem tear outs
  • Operate refractory-related tools and equipment, including brick saws and material handling equipment
  • Support preventive maintenance, inventory tracking, and documentation related to refractory tools and materials
