About The Position

The Tier II Technician (ND III) position at AT&T Government Solutions involves supporting the installation and maintenance of computer data communications systems for the Federal Government. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational integrity of critical voice, video, and collaboration services within the National Security Team. The technician will engage in various tasks including incident management, network configuration, and collaboration with Tier III engineers to enhance network performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • 16 years of experience in a related field, which can be a combination of work history and education.
  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts.
  • Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
  • Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI models.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, and Brocade/Foundry OS.
  • Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, and GRE.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of Service Now or similar ITSM products.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with network modeling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with network security protocols and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests.
  • Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects.
  • Perform configuration management functions such as updating topology drawings and ensuring asset management records are accurate.
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching including VLANs and Port Security.
