Primary Duties Complies with all plant administrative rules. Complies with all applicable operating procedures. Obeys the plant safety rules. Operates tie machine to sort and grade ties. Oversees routine maintenance and reports additional needs to the Maintenance Supervisor. Verifies counts and car/truck load numbers. Prepares tie-grading reports for plant inventory purposes. Compiles inventory information on truck and rail ties. Compiles monthly information on the plant customer inventory. Checks quality and amount of arriving wood products. In accordance with size or grade insures separation, relocation, or storage of material such as cross, switch, or other forest products. As required inspects and classifies forest products for size, grade quality, and quantity in accordance with standard specifications. Works with customers and inspectors in ensure that orders are processed correctly and accordingly to customer’s requirements. As required assist commercial inspectors and insures reclassification of rejected material. Assist in physical inventories. Directs proper loading and unloading of rail cars and other customer vehicles to include selection and quality of material being loaded and insures compliance with standard security and safety specification for cars and vehicles. Prepares and submits production schedules and reports to include time sheets and other personal data, shipping tickets, tally reports, and supply requirements and results of physical inventories. Ensures all employees wear proper PPE. May be required to conduct employee safety meetings. Performs other duties as required. Directs and ensures completion of required housekeeping activities. Performs all required SH&E responsibilities. SH&E Responsibilities Complies with all SH&E regulations and corporate and plant SH&E policies and procedures. Promptly and properly reports all incidents, injuries, damages, spills and/or releases. Promptly reports and, if possible, corrects all unsafe acts and/or conditions. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) required by the applicable PPE hazard assessments (including restricted use pesticide PPE requirements). Completes all SH&E inspections assigned by the SH&E committee. Oversees required housekeeping activities. Ensures treated wood products are stored elevated off the ground to prevent unnecessary contact with rainwater or snowmelt. Monitors hydraulic equipment for oil leaks. Works safely with and around hazardous materials/hazardous waste and ensures all employees do so. Participates in and monitors employee development.
