Job Description: SEASONAL ROLE We are currently seeking a candidate who enjoys being outdoors and providing essential public health services as a Tick and Mosquito Technician. The ideal candidate should have a passion for environmental health and be willing to obtain their state pesticide licenses if they do not already possess them. This position offers the opportunity for career advancement to year-round employment by transitioning to an Integrated Pest Management Technician.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry a 50-pound backpack sprayer for extended periods.
- Willingness to obtain state pesticide licenses if not already possessed.
- Commitment to learning about mosquito and tick biology.
- While performing the job responsibilities, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
- The team member is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
- The team member should be able to lift, move and wear a backpack sprayer of up to 50 pounds for multiple hours per day.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Adjusting and mixing chemicals according to the labels
Responsibilities
- Comfortably work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Lift and carry a 50-pound backpack sprayer for multiple hours a day.
- Communicate effectively with customers, office staff, coworkers, and management about services performed.
- Apply pesticides to areas of harborage following all label instructions and complying with state laws and safety procedures.
- Learn about mosquito and tick biology to effectively control populations.
