About The Position

The TIC Consultant position works within a team environment to assess behavioral concerns and act as a consultative resource and guide for family childcare providers in incorporating Trauma-Informed Care. The role also strengthens program implementation by collaborating with internal and external entities, serves as a Trauma-Informed Care and program subject matter expert, and adheres to legal, ethical, and contractual requirements regarding child welfare, confidentiality, and record keeping, including CA mandated reporting laws. CCRC assists close to 50,000 parents, children, and child care providers each month in Northern Los Angeles County and the entirety of San Bernardino County, serving a total area of 22,500 square miles. Since 1976, CCRC has managed programs for finding and selecting child care, child care financial assistance, school readiness, home visiting, and research and program evaluation. Children and families benefit from these programs, enabling parents to work and attend school, contribute to the economy, and strengthen their families and communities. CCRC's early care & education specialists offer assistance ranging from finding child care and child development ages & stages to marketing child care businesses and CPR training. CCRC operates and oversees Head Start Birth-5 programs for 3,312 children, promoting school readiness and family engagement. The agency also runs a literacy campaign, 'What a Difference a Book Makes,' having collected 800,000 age-appropriate books, believing in the immeasurable cognitive benefits of literacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields of early childhood education, social work, or psychology
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience of working with children and families, specifically children ages birth to 5
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care, health issues of foster children, appropriate practices, effective teaching strategies, regulations, Community Care Licensing requirements, and DCFS
  • Ability to converse, read, write and/or translate in English and Spanish
  • Ability to travel 25% to and from agency locations, within the community and regional external clients for trainings
  • Meet requirements to be an approved driver including holding and maintaining current auto insurance, current California Driver’s License and DMV clearance
  • Background check required, commensurate with the role to verify candidate qualifications (criminal history, employment history / experience, education, reference checks) and ensure grant compliance
  • Live Scan Clearance / DOJ Fingerprinting (for positions working directly with the public in a child/ community care or child / community care adjacent setting)
  • Health Clearance (for positions working directly with the public in a child/ community care or child / community care adjacent setting or working with “at risk” populations)
  • MVR / DMV clearance in accordance with CCRC’s liability insurance provisions (for positions where driving is required)
  • Federal Debarment Checks (for positions acting in a principal capacity to federal funds)

Responsibilities

  • Using established communication protocols and professional standards, assess behavioral concerns and act as a consultative resource and guide for family childcare providers in incorporating Trauma-Informed Care
  • Strengthen and support effective program implementation by collaborating with internal and external entities Emergency Child Care Program Team
  • Serve as a Trauma-Informed Care and program subject matter expert when participating in all relevant meetings and advance expertise through trainings
  • Adhere to all legal, ethical and contractual requirements regarding child welfare, confidentiality and record keeping CA mandated reporting laws (child, elder and dependent adult abuse/neglect)
