This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As a Level III Valve Manufacturing Technician, you will bring established proficiency in precision assembly and testing to our bi-propellant thruster valve production operations. You'll work with tactical independence, develop process improvements, mentor developing technicians, and serve as a technical resource for complex valve assembly and troubleshooting challenges. Your work directly enables our path to flight-qualified, rate-capable propulsion hardware.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of direct valve, turbomachinery, or propulsion system assembly experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in precision and tight tolerance assembly
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and detailed work instructions
  • Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic testing and leak detection methods
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Nice To Haves

  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration
  • Experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and vehicle integration
  • Familiarity with pressurized system safety for pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Mastery of precision mechanical assembly including torque, leak test, and proof test methods
  • Experience developing new manufacturing processes and work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train other technicians
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

Responsibilities

  • Precision assembly of bi-propellant valve components to tolerances of 0.0001in
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve valve assembly discrepancies through modification, rework, and repair
  • Execute pneumatic actuation testing and nitrogen/helium leak testing, ensuring hardware meets requirements
  • Perform proof structural testing of valve assemblies
  • Conduct detailed component inspection and maintain strict cleanliness requirements (LOX/GOX compatibility)
  • Safely work with hazardous systems, chemicals, and fast-paced operations
  • Develop technical plans for valve assembly processes for team review
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule
  • Support design, procurement, installation, and integration of custom valve manufacturing and test equipment
  • Participate in tool and process development initiatives
  • Provide input to program teams to support schedule and budget planning
  • Define hardware preparation procedures for test, qualification, and flight
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and accessibility
  • Provide independent technical contributions and mentorship for skill development of Level I and II technicians
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and program teams on valve-related technical challenges
