Thrift Operations Driver
About The Position
The Thrift Operations Driver is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City (BBBSKC). This role involves collecting used, unwanted clothing and small household items from donation bins and partners across the Kansas City Metro area (Kansas and Missouri). The collected items are then loaded into trucks, maximizing load volume, and subsequently unloaded into trailers or a warehouse where they are categorized and sorted into gaylords. Proceeds from these items benefit BBBSKC's mentoring programs, which create professionally supported, one-to-one Matches for kids and teens to help them realize their full potential. BBBSKC is recognized as a leader in the non-profit industry, having received multiple national awards for its programs and as a top non-profit to work for. The ideal candidate for this position is extremely dependable, responsible, punctual, honest, and possesses the highest integrity. The role requires the ability to work autonomously, flexibility to meet changing demands, safe driving skills, adherence to safety procedures, and a team-player attitude.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Class E driver’s license required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- An insurance accepted driving record
- Required to pass a background check and drug test
Nice To Haves
- DOT Medical Card preferred, or ability to obtain DOT Medical Card upon hire required
- CDL strongly preferred, or ability to obtain a CDL upon hire required
- Previous commercial driving experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Collect product from bins and partners at various locations across Kansas and Missouri
- Load product into truck, maximizing load volume
- Unload product out of truck into trailer or warehouse
- Categorize product and place into constructed gaylords
- Sort product
- Effectively communicate with Supervisors daily
- Effectively utilize Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and web-based applications
- Demonstrate safe/efficient-driving skills
- Completion of daily driving report and input data into excel spreadsheet
- Other duties as assigned
