About The Position

Baylor Scott and White Health is seeking an outstanding academic BC/BE Thoracic Surgeon to join the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, within the Department of Surgery in Temple, TX. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all aspects of non-cardiac adult thoracic surgery and expected to contribute to the growth and development of disease-based programs in partnership with the Divisions of Oncology and Pulmonary Medicine. The candidate will also contribute to expanding the depth and breadth of general thoracic surgical services offered while maintaining the highest quality of care. Our team of highly-experienced surgeons and healthcare providers treat a variety of chest disorders, including benign and malignant conditions. Our system utilizes innovative state of the art care and technology, including minimally-invasive techniques, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic surgery. The Central Texas region is the fastest growing area of the country and has attracted several noteworthy and diverse industries (Meta, Apple and Samsung to name a few) in recent years. The Cardiovascular Surgery program, under new leadership, is experiencing steady growth that is anticipated to continue for the foreseeable future. Requirements

  • Residency or Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Completed ACGME-accredited Thoracic tract cardiothoracic surgery residency or fellowship program.
  • Ability to provide the full spectrum of non-cardiac adult thoracic surgical services, including treatment of benign and malignant pulmonary and esophageal disorders.
  • Training/experience in foregut and esophageal procedures such as Heller myotomy, fundoplication, and stenting
  • Training/experience in interventional airway procedures including EBUS and stenting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Doctorate Degree in Medicine
  • Licensed to Practice Medicine in the state of Texas by the Texas Medical Board
  • Where applicable, the employee must be board certified in their specialty or demonstrate certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an academic setting is preferred.
  • 5+ years of Post Training, experience preferred, but exceptions possible.
  • Added training or qualifications in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotics, is preferred.
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring
