Develop mechanical and technical skills and knowledge. Maintain acceptable grades, attendance and performance ratings throughout the program as determined by shop supervisors, classroom training instructors and program coordinator. Understand and perform within Empire’s conduct standards, work ethics and performance standards. There is no guarantee of employment.

  • Maintain classroom and self-study training grades and curriculum to avoid disqualification from the program.
  • Maintain attendance above minimum program standards.
  • Maintain acceptable attitude and cooperation standards.
  • Keep work area and tool boxes clean and orderly.
  • Learn to use parts books, NPR, SIRS, SIS and other required literature and systems.
  • Learn basic systems and component functions (electrical, hydraulic, engines and power trains).
  • Learn to disassemble, clean, reassemble and install components and parts.
  • Maintain company equipment – report repair needs to supervisor.
  • Prepare reports including time cards, service reports and self-evaluations.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Own and maintain required personal tools.
  • Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.
  • Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and any shift as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel to remote locations, other stores and customer job sites as needed.
  • Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
  • Work within and promote corporate values.

  • Completion of TRAIN test evaluation and MCC assessment testing.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
  • Must complete any pre-requisite classes required to enter program or maintain status in program.
