About The Position
As the Thin Films Quality Manager at EMD Electronics, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of quality professionals dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of quality for thin films materials at our Carlsbad facility. This position is integral to our mission of advancing digital living through innovative solutions in the semiconductor industry. You will manage a team of quality engineers and specialists who engage in research and development (R&D), small volume manufacturing (SVM), and high volume manufacturing (HVM) activities, providing support to major semiconductor customers globally. Your responsibilities will include leading cross-functional teams to resolve technology issues and conducting thorough investigations to identify root causes of quality concerns. You will be the persistent voice of the customer, ensuring that their needs are met while maintaining accountability for the quality performance of thin films materials. Continuous improvement will be a key focus, as you will drive collaboration with site and global functional groups to enhance quality processes and outcomes. In this role, you will ensure adherence to process control tools, such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) reviews, to identify opportunities for improvement and reduce variation. You will also be responsible for identifying and enabling automation activities that enhance decision-making speed, improve quality controls, and streamline operations. As a key voting member, you will oversee the disposition of discrepant materials and manage cross-functional teams to implement effective controls that prevent or reduce variation. Additionally, you will lead quality-related audits at the site and contribute to global quality projects, process improvements utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and data-driven optimization initiatives. Your leadership will be essential in fostering a strong quality culture, overseeing the quality structure, and managing the transition of processes from New Product Introduction (NPI) to SVM and HVM stages.
