  • Expert-level knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials science applied to spacecraft systems.
  • Proficiency in advanced fluid simulation tools (e.g., Star-CCM+ or similar platforms).
  • Strong background in spacecraft design and operations, with a focus on ensuring fluid system reliability in space environments.
  • Experience with space propulsion components such as propellant tanks, manifolds, regulators, valves are desirable.
  • Familiarity with orbital station-keeping, space environments, and orbital achievement desirable.
  • Familiarity with Space Nuclear Propulsion is a plus.
  • Experience in fluid modeling of propulsion systems, including plume impingement, waterhammer, and pressure drop analyses.
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the satellite system design life cycle, including spacecraft level environmental testing, launch, and operations.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface within departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, and government representatives.
  • A Top-Secret/ SCI DoD Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to analyze spacecraft, aerospace or mechanical components.
  • Analysis of gas/liquid propulsion monopropellant and bi-propellant components/subassemblies into gas and liquid propulsion subsystems.
  • Lead the analysis and optimization of spacecraft fluid systems, with a focus on propulsion, slosh dynamics, plume impingement and aerophysics.
  • Perform advanced simulations and modeling of fluid behavior in spacecraft environments, including zero-gravity, extreme temperature variations, and vacuum conditions.
  • Develop and validate fluid system designs for both current and future spacecraft, considering mission-specific needs and operational challenges.
  • Leverage mechanical engineering background within the fundamental areas by designed aerospace vehicle structures and spacecraft.
  • Provide technical leadership in the design and testing of fluid systems, including defining requirements, selecting materials, and developing test plans.
