Position Summary: Based in Hebron, KY, the Thermal Spray Technician will perform essential job functions associated with thermal spray coating operations under the direction of the Production Supervisor to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.

Requirements

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent, and a technical certification or two-year degree in a technical field.
  • Working experience in a production environment that demonstrates the capability to learn thermal spray processes.
  • Ability to perform mechanical measurements (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Organized, detailed, and accurate.
  • Good communication skills with co-workers and management.
  • Documentation skills with basic MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Plasma, thermal spray, and/or HVOF spray experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with large multi-axis robotics and associated programming tools preferred.
  • Advanced documentation and computer skills preferred.
  • Thermal spray process experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Review job folder to verify area of part to be masked, cleaned/or blasted and coated. Confirm all pre-coating requirements have been completed according to the job folder specification.
  • Record and sign off on all applicable data defined in the job folder.
  • Report all coating problems, inaccuracies in the job folder, damaged parts, and/or tooling and fixtures to the Thermal Spray Lead.
  • Make appropriate use of coating materials, equipment, and documentation.
  • Follow in-process inspection procedures as needed to verify current operation meets customer and technical plan requirements.
  • Completion of assigned spray operation in a timely, accurate manner per work instructions.
  • Accurate documentation of required data within the job folder.
  • Attention to detail with a focused goal of zero rework.
  • Maintaining high-quality output.
  • Excellent record of attendance with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Assisting the supervisor in developing processes that will improve operations.
  • 100% on-time delivery of assigned projects.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with supervisor, plant leadership, and coworkers.
  • Observe all Environmental, Health, and Safety Policy requirements:
  • Keeping the work area neat and orderly at all times.
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Wear appropriate respiratory gear when in the thermal spray booth.
