About The Position

A Thermal Mechanical Sourcing Engineer identifies, selects, and manages suppliers for thermal and mechanical components and systems, leveraging technical expertise in thermal engineering to optimize product performance and cost. This role involves creating sourcing strategies, negotiating with suppliers, conducting technical reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate components and ensure quality throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to mass production.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or 8+ years' experience.
  • A strong background in thermal and mechanical engineering, including experience with electronics cooling and liquid cooling technologies and component design.
  • Proven experience in sourcing complex components, negotiating with suppliers, and managing contracts.
  • Ability to conduct technical reviews, understand manufacturing processes, and drive supplier process improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
  • The ability to develop long-term sourcing strategies and align them with company roadmaps and business objectives.
  • 8+ years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate potential suppliers for thermal components like heat sinks, cold plates, and liquid cooling systems, as well as other mechanical parts.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with technology roadmaps, focusing on cost optimization and supply chain risk management.
  • Review supplier proposals and request for quotes (RFQs), providing technical analysis and resolving queries to drive successful sourcing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with suppliers, acting as a key technical interface between the company and external partners.
  • Implement supplier quality strategies, conduct quality audits, and lead efforts with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and reduce variability.
  • Work closely with thermal, mechanical, silicon, and product design teams to integrate components and ensure they meet performance and cost objectives.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, performing competitive analysis to inform sourcing decisions and influence future product development.
  • Support the entire product development lifecycle, from new product introduction (NPI) through mass production, ensuring seamless component sourcing and transition.
  • Analyze supply chain complexities, identifying potential risks, and developing strategies to mitigate them.
