About The Position

Lockheed Martin has an exciting opportunity for a Thermal Analysis Mechanical Engineer in Orlando, FL. This person will be a member of the hardware engineering team and be responsible for the development of thermal management and cooling systems for aerospace systems. Responsibilities will include research and development of viable thermal solutions for systems and components. This engineer will need experience with heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and finite element modeling. With guidance, they will be developing analytical models for product development. Thermal testing and measurements will also be required. In this role you will be assessing design requirements and margin against product specifications and reliability standards to show product verification and robust design. The thermal engineer will interface with mechanical design, electrical design, electromechanical design, optical analyst and structural analysis engineering groups.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).
  • Strong practical knowledge in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics principles, demonstrated through strong academic performance.
  • Familiarity with (FEA) Finite Element tools (SimCenter 3D Thermal) and/or (CFD) Computational Fluid Dynamics (FloEFD) tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues, demonstrated through hands-on experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, demonstrated through successful group / individual projects and collaborations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-810, environmental test plans and execution.
  • Ability to design and analyze heat exchangers, electronics cooling and passive/active thermal control solutions.
