Thermal and Fluid Systems Technical Advisors #IN1245

CumminsColumbus, OH
$135,491 - $162,000Hybrid

About The Position

Utilize the core competencies of thermal and fluid sciences, using advanced analytical and experimental approaches to answer key questions about the performance and architecture of engine systems and components. Drive decisions and create technical content which ultimately leads to state of the art, highly effective, environmentally friendly, and competitive products in the engine market. Utilize advanced systems knowledge and expertise to make decision in the areas of medium-term project direction, such as setting team goals, conducting comprehensive analysis, testing and communication with stakeholders that impact the successful progression of projects. Create, manage, improve, and apply processes including Pre Program Planning (PPP), Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI) and Value Package Change (VPC), Engineering Standard Work (ESW), Functional Excellence Practice (FEP), and Analysis Led Design and Verification (ALD and V). Provide problem resolution leadership for complex systems utilizing thermal and fluid sciences tools such as GT-Suite, Boost, Fluent, Converge, Concerto, Mach, DARTS, Calterm, Emissions data system, Integrity, and ACCEPTS to enable high qualify decision making. Apply the Principles of Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer and the Principles of Thermodynamics and Energy Conversion Systems to interpret and predict the performance of fluid and thermal systems and energy conversion systems by leveraging a quantitative and intuitive comprehension of the transfer of thermal energy between elements of a system, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, controls, and the application of modeling and experimental tools, to answer key questions about the system or component. Utilize the 7-Step Product Problem Solving process to determine assignable cause of problems, implement robust, data-based solutions, identify systemic root causes, and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Utilized advanced System Requirements Engineering methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed. Establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation, track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle, and assess the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources. Lead the team in Systems Thinking to define the system of interest, analyze linkages and interactions between elements, and predict system behavior in order to devise modifications to product desired effects. Lead Product Failure Mode Avoidance to mitigate potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functional requirements, interactions, control and noise factors, and prioritized potential failure modes and potential failure causes for the system of interest to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of company products.
