About The Position

The Behavioral Health Therapist provides therapy and psycho-educational services; documents clinical and other patient information and maintains a comprehensive treatment record; communicates verbally and in writing with referral sources, other team members, and treatment reviewers to promote and coordinate treatment; participates in practice development activities; meets clerical/administrative reporting requirements as needed for financial, risk management, and quality improvement activities; and performs other duties as needed. Therapy services are performed at several sites including Burney and Alturas Clinics and at school district campuses. Location is at Burney Clinic site.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited graduate program in social work, counseling or psychology.
  • Licensed therapist (LCSW/LMFT) or registered intern (ACSW/AMFT) in the State of California.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work with diverse populations (experience working with Native Americans is desirable).
  • Two (2) years of therapy experience desired.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to travel for meetings/trainings.
  • Valid California driver's license and proof of personal automobile insurance as required by California state law.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Indian Preference. Preference in filling vacancies will be given to qualified Indian applicants in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, U.S. Code, section 472 & 473).

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, group, and/or family therapy services to a wide variety of clients with a broad range of problems, using research-based treatment techniques.
  • Performs comprehensive client assessments and crisis intervention services.
  • Establish relationships with patients and families that encourage an effective use of the therapy process.
  • Assists clients in the appropriate use of community resources and performs other case management duties, coordinating the services intra and interdepartmentally.
  • Communicates proactively with other providers who share involvement in case or in family treatment.
  • Completes treatment plans and related chart/billing forms in compliance with requirements.
  • Participates and conducts Quality Improvement/Risk Management objectives and activities.
  • Participates in all Behavioral Health Department and monthly staff meetings.
