About The Position

Job Summary: Responsible for coordination of individual and group psychotherapy, family sessions, completion of psychosocial histories, suicide risk assessments, individual treatment plans, and discharge planning. Oversees the multidisciplinary team's development of the patient's individual plan of care during the course of treatment in the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Master's degree program in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology, plus experience in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Licensed and in good standing in the State of Michigan in the respective discipline.
  • Handle with Care Basic Certification in nonverbal and physical management within 2 months of hire and annual re-certification.
  • Clinical experience with an adult psychiatric treatment population including experience in diagnostic and psychosocial assessment and group therapy.
  • Experience with crisis management and suicide risk assessment.
  • Demonstrate multidisciplinary team leadership abilities, able to work under stressful situations and possesses good oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, orients, and establishes rapport with patients; Assists with orientation of clients.
  • Completes assessment of the patient's psychosocial functioning, needs, problems and strengths following the patients' entry into the program
  • Provides written inter-disciplinary plan of care of therapy goals to include interventions and discharge plans in coordination with the overall treatment objective for patients.
  • Attends and participates in designated interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Maintains timely and accurate patient medical record on all interventions, patient progress toward treatment goals, case management, and discharge plans.
  • Plans and conducts daily therapy group sessions and programs.
  • Focuses on patient attitudes, behavior adjustment, incorporation of coping mechanisms and maximization of patients' strengths with regard to physical/mental functioning.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu; Monitors environment for safety hazards and/or potentials for patient self-abuse or assault.
  • Assists as needed with procedures for searching, storing, and documenting disposition of patient valuables, medications and items defined as contraband brought to the Hospital.
  • Develops a Behavioral Plan to address specific patient behavioral needs.
  • Acts as a liaison between family members and program staff, as well as community resources.
  • Develops a safety plan with the patient at the point of patient discharge. Motivates patient to comply with steps in the safety plan.
  • Coordinates discharge planning with the treatment team and community resources.
