About The Position

The Therapist is responsible for performing client care activities as directed by the attending physician, Medical Director, Executive Director, and Clinical Director. This role involves providing group therapy as ordered by the Clinical Director, collaborating with the Treatment Team in the formulation of the Master Treatment Plan, and assisting in coordinating discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or health-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • SUD Maine Only: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED if a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and/or a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with clear and active license.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the behavioral health field.
  • If licensed, and do not currently have CAQH or NPI, obtain a CAQH and/or NPI within two weeks of start date OR obtain within two weeks of receipt date if licensure is received after start date.
  • Valid motor vehicles license required if transporting clients or to client homes.
  • Florida Requirement: Mental Health: A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Florida Requirement: Substance Use: CAC, CAP, LMHC, LCSW or Registered Intern with active clear license or certification in good standing. Experience may substitute except where license or certification is required by licensing standards.
  • New Hampshire Requirement: Substance Use: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Substance Use or health-related field.
  • New Hampshire Requirement: Mental Health: Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Maine Requirement: Substance Use: A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or a(n): Registered Nurse certified as a Psychiatric Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with appropriate specialization certification, Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Maine Requirement: Substance Use: Any individual with a credential listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may be employed as clinical staff in a substance use disorder program only when that individual has completed one (1) year clinical experience in substance abuse treatment and a minimum of sixty (60) hours of alcohol and drug education within the last five (5) years.
  • Maine Requirement: Substance Use: Education accepted by the Department includes, but is not limited to, training and continuing education approved by the Maine State Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, 02-384 CMR Chapters 1-9.
  • Maine Requirement: Mental Health: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • New Jersey Requirement: Substance Use: Each substance abuse counselor shall be either an LCADC or CADC or another licensed health professional doing work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within their scope of practice.
  • New Jersey Requirement: Substance Use: A CADC must work under the supervision of an LCADC, or another New Jersey licensed clinical professional designated as a qualified clinical supervisor per N.J.A.C. 13:34C-6.2.
  • New Jersey Requirement: Substance Use: A CADC cannot diagnose substance abuse.
  • New Jersey Requirement: Substance Use: Counseling staff without an LCADC or CADC status or who do not possess another New Jersey clinical professional license that includes work of an alcohol or drug counseling nature within its scope of practice shall function as alcohol and drug counselor-interns or credential-interns and shall: Be enrolled in a course of study leading to a CADC or LCADC, or another New Jersey clinical professional license that includes work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice, without regard to changes in N.J.A.C. 10:161A-1.9 employment, with progress towards certification or licensing on file, reviewed by the facility at least semi-annually and documented; and Be trained, evaluated and receive continuing formal clinical supervision by the director of substance abuse counseling or designee, pursuant to the clinical supervision rules of the State health professional licensing board for the course of study in which they are enrolled.
  • New Jersey Requirement: Counseling staff employed in a residential substance use disorders treatment facility after July 15, 2013, shall have three years from the date of employment to become certified as an LCADC or CADC, or another clinical licensed professional that includes the work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice.
  • New Jersey Requirement: Only staff possessing the appropriate clinical background and educational qualifications from the appropriate clinical discipline may provide the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • New Jersey Requirement: Mental Health: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) (supervised), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Colorado Requirements: Substance Use: A Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) or certified as a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) with an active clear license or certification in good standing.
  • Colorado Requirements: Mental Health: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Texas Requirements: Substance Use: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and clear license.
  • Texas Requirements: Mental Health: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Wisconsin Requirements: Substance Use: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (LCAC) with an active and clear license.
  • Wisconsin Requirements: Mental Health: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Pennsylvania Requirements: Substance Use: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and unrestricted license.
  • Pennsylvania Requirements: Mental Health: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • New Mexico Requirements: Substance Use: Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (LADAC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CADC), Certified Peer Support Workers (CPSW); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • New Mexico Requirements: Mental Health: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist.
  • Nebraska Requirements: Substance Use: Active and unrestricted Nebraska Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) credential.
  • Nebraska Requirements: Mental Health: Active and unrestricted Nebraska Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) or Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) credential.
  • Utah Requirements: Substance Use: Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC), Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor (ASUDC), Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Utah Requirements: Mental Health: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Vermont Requirements: Substance Use: Must obtain an LADC or CADC license, requiring a master’s degree (or lower for CADC), supervised practice, and passing the IC&RC exam.
  • Vermont Requirements: Mental Health: Vermont LCMHC (Clinical Mental Health Counselor), LICSW (Clinical Social Worker), psychologist, psychiatrist, or equivalent.
  • Georgia Requirements: Substance Use: Certification such as Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC), overseen by the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia (ADACBGA).
  • Georgia Requirements: Mental Health: A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
  • Share pertinent information with the team as obtained from the client's family, or others as indicated throughout the program.
  • Attend daily and weekly staff meetings according to the schedule.
  • Evaluate the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
  • Facilitate group therapy.
  • Perform individual therapy with client/family.
  • Document the assessment of client progress/regress and interventions provided in the medical record, on an ongoing basis.
  • Recognize, respond to and assist in psychiatric crisis situations and provide the necessary intervention.
  • Respond and assist in medical emergency situations as directed and needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff and physicians.
  • Provide clients with education and instruction on Advance Directives.
  • Attend and participate in monthly Program Staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider.
  • May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties.
  • The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other GRNH, LLC operations.
  • Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC’s policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
