About The Position

The Urgent Behavioral Solutions (UBS) Counselor is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of therapeutic services. They are responsible for delivering a full range of UBS services. UBS Counselor will provide services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (substance use and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. Demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. UBS Counselor will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received.

Responsibilities

  • Therapist shall provide stabilization to patients presenting at Urgent Behavioral Solutions when requested.
  • Therapist shall assure that the following basic principles of crisis intervention underlie delivery of these services: Assistance must be easily accessed and immediately available. Crisis should be viewed in systems terms, suggesting the need to involve significant others or other community safety net providers to resolve the precipitating event or crisis, if possible. Medication may be a necessary strategy to reduce stress. Active intervention including advocacy, supportive guidance, and identification of adaptive responses are generally required to resolve the crisis at hand as well as restore the client to a higher level of self-sufficiency.
  • Therapist performs intake interviews and assessments, identifying presenting problems and generating preliminary, person-centered treatment plans for all new patients.
  • Provide follow-up services for those seen.
  • Therapist will coordinate with the patient’s regular service provider(s) or provide continued service using evidence-based practices. Those patients without a regular provider until outpatient services are established or services are no longer necessary.
  • Therapist shall be knowledgeable in involuntary detention laws and procedures.
  • Therapist shall report to the Assistant Director of Crisis Services for program specific supervision and shall be under the Administration of the Director of Crisis Services.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
