About The Position

The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Therapist Mental Health Professional in Dekalb, IL who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community. The Therapist MHP is responsible for the provision of counseling, skills training and case management services to a caseload of clients who are diagnosed with persistent mental illness. Services are provided in family and individual treatment settings with both adult and children/adolescents. Services are offered both onsite and in the community/client home. Therapists are expected to work with a team of service providers within the agency and throughout the social service community to ensure that all needs of clients are met. This job position may have some work components that can be performed remotely. Remote work arrangements are not a right or entitlement of employment. They are discretionary and subject to demonstrated performance and operational needs. Approval may be rescinded at any time at the sole discretion of management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a human service field required.
  • License preferred (LPC or LSW).
  • At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective counseling skills.
  • Diagnostic interviewing skills.
  • Clinical case presentation ability.
  • Ability to provide clinical services to clients with a variety of psychiatric disorders.
  • Knowledge of service area referral options.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling, skills training, and case management services to clients diagnosed with persistent mental illness.
  • Conduct treatment planning meetings as necessary.
  • Obtain input from consumers and other stakeholders on how to improve service provision.
  • Provide outcome evaluation data to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with coworkers within AID.
  • Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining public entitlements as necessary.
  • Participate in agency committees as assigned.
  • Participate in clinical supervision a minimum of one time per month.
  • Provide outreach services to clients who are unable or unwilling to engage in office-based services.
