This is the first level treatment provider within the Clinical Services Department and the incumbent may or may not supervise and manage programs and other staff. The Therapist II is a licensed provider responsible for major services delivery activities. The therapist may use a variety of direct or non-direct approaches to facilitate client recovery and maintain familiarity with a variety of treatment modalities, utilizing them to assist clients with achieving their treatment goals. This position supports Behavioral Health staff and provides treatment for behavioral health clients in the therapeutic community and field.

  • Performs intensive counseling and psychotherapy.
  • Performs case management and treatment services.
  • Provides individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Identifies social problems and develops complete Clinical Assessments and treatment plans, following each case through to solution.
  • Completes clinical records and other required documentation in accordance with agency, payer, and regulatory requirements, utilizing paper or computer technology as required.
  • Collaborates with the treatment team and participates in scheduled Clinical Meetings to discuss the progression of treatment of clients being served.
  • Attends agency and community meetings and training as required.
  • Completes mandated abuse reports as needed.
  • Conducts Clinical Assessments. All assessments must be reviewed and signed by the licensed supervisor.
  • Weekend work may be required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Full Vaccination against COVID-19 – CA required.
  • Great attitude - required.
  • Minimum of a master's degree in a related field (e.g., Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master of Psychology or Counseling (MA/MS)).
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or clinical thinking to a wide range of problems.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and electronic medical record.
  • First aid training.
