Summary of Program and Position: The Therapist II provides trauma-informed, youth-centered clinical services across residential, family-based, and community settings, supporting the safety, stability, and well-being of youth and families. The role delivers individual, group, and family therapy; conducts initial mental health evaluations; and maintains an assigned caseload in alignment with program and funding requirements. Working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams, the clinician provides clinical leadership and consultation to paraprofessional staff, residential teams, and Resource Caregivers to ensure treatment goals are integrated into daily care environments. The position actively coordinates care with internal and external partners, advocates for youth across service systems, participates in treatment and IEP meetings, and ensures timely, accurate clinical documentation. This position is under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Director with additional clinical supervision provided by the external Clinical Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related human services field from an accredited institution.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or Mental Health Professional (MHP) as required by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHD) Performance Standards.
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience providing clinical and/or therapeutic services to children and families, required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license
  • Has daily access to an automobile that meets Hawaii Department of Transportation standards, children under the age of 13 yrs must sit in the backseat while in an operating vehicle and children until the age of 10-12 (at a minimum of 9 yrs old) must be secured in a child safety care seat/booster seat.
  • Can obtain and maintain current and valid proof of Hawaii State Safety Check.
  • Can obtain and maintain proof of no-fault insurance.
  • Can obtain an acceptable pre-hire driver’s abstract and annually thereafter.
  • Can obtain an acceptable Fingerprint (FBI) Background Check upon initial hire and annually thereafter.
  • Can obtain a State Criminal History check upon initial hire and annually thereafter.
  • Can obtain an acceptable CWS child abuse registry check upon initial hire and annually thereafter.
  • Can obtain an acceptable National Sex Offender child abuse registry check upon initial hire and annually thereafter.
  • Can obtain and maintain current First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Must have a cell phone for use in emergencies at off-site locations.

  • Experience working children and families who experienced child abuse and neglect or experienced trauma and loss, highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Behave in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
  • Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive individual, group, and family therapy services in alignment with program requirements and best clinical practices. Complete Initial Mental Health Evaluations (IMHEs), ongoing assessments, and therapeutic interventions that support youth safety, stability, and long-term well-being.
  • Deliver clinical services across multiple partner programs, with primary focus on Transitional Family Homes and Expanded Crisis Support (ECS) and provides relief or supplemental services as assigned within Intensive In-Home and Intensive Independent Living Skills programs. Adapt clinical approach to meet the developmental, behavioral, and environmental needs of youth across residential, family-based, and community settings. including safely transporting youth to and from therapeutic sessions, appointments, and other treatment-related or program activities as required.
  • Maintain a minimum billable caseload as determined by the Supervisor while ensuring services are delivered ethically, consistently, and in accordance with contractual and funding requirements. Balance productivity expectations with quality of care and individualized treatment planning.
  • Work collaboratively with paraprofessional staff, residential staff, and Resource Caregivers to ensure clinical goals are integrated into daily care environments. Provide consultation, guidance, and clinical insight to support consistent implementation of treatment plans across all settings.
  • Coordinate care and collaborate with internal and external service providers to ensure continuity of services and effective treatment outcomes. Actively participate in team-based treatment planning, case consultations, and cross-system coordination to support holistic care.
  • Advocate for youth across education, behavioral health, child welfare, and other service systems to promote access to appropriate services and supports. Attend and participate in treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and related forums to support youth progress toward therapeutic, educational, and life goals.
  • Complete and maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with program, regulatory, and funding requirements. Documentation includes assessments, treatment plans, supervision notes, monthly and quarterly reports, progress summaries, discharge documentation, and other required records, submitted by established deadlines.
