About The Position

The Behavioral Health Therapist provides direct clinical services to children, adolescents, and families enrolled in our behavioral health therapy program, including CORE Tier 2 Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services. The therapist conducts behavioral health assessments, establishes clinical impressions, participates in diagnostic formulation under supervision as required, develops individualized service plans, and provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Services are provided to youth and families funded through Medicaid, private/commercial insurance, grant-funded programs, and self-pay arrangements in accordance with DBHDD, payer, and agency standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field
  • License-eligible in the State of Georgia (APC, LMSW, AMFT, or equivalent)
  • Must obtain full professional licensure within one (1) year of hire (or within the timeframe required by state licensure regulations)
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent behavioral health treatment approaches
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention skills
  • Ability to provide family-centered and trauma-informed care
  • Effective documentation and electronic health record proficiency
  • Strong collaboration and engagement skills with families and community partners
  • Meet established clinical productivity standards
  • Maintain timely and compliant documentation
  • Participate in supervision and licensure progression requirements
  • Demonstrate positive engagement, retention, and clinical outcome indicators for youth served
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral health assessments and reassessments in accordance with DBHDD and agency standards.
  • Participate in diagnostic formulation in collaboration with licensed supervisors as required by licensure level.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) based on identified clinical needs and treatment goals.
  • Provide individual therapy to children and adolescents using evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide family therapy to strengthen caregiver capacity, communication, and family functioning.
  • Facilitate group therapy services focused on skill development, coping strategies, emotional regulation, and peer functioning.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic services.
  • Coordinate care with caregivers, schools, medical providers, and other treatment team members as appropriate.
  • Deliver services in accordance with Georgia DBHDD CORE Tier 2 standards, Medicaid requirements, commercial insurance payer requirements, and agency policies.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation supports medical necessity, authorization requirements, and billing standards across Medicaid, private insurance, grant-funded, and self-pay funding sources.
  • Complete assessments, service plans, progress notes, treatment updates, and discharge documentation within required timelines and agency standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support regulatory, accreditation, and payer compliance, including participation in documentation reviews and internal audits as requested.
  • Track and document client progress toward treatment goals, engagement, and retention indicators as part of program outcome monitoring.
  • Participate in utilization review processes, authorization compliance activities, and payer audit readiness efforts as directed by supervisors.
  • Support engagement and retention of youth and families in services.
  • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional licensure progress and required continuing education activities.
