Alvarado Parkway Institute in La Mesa is San Diego County's leading provider of comprehensive mental health and substance abuse care. API offers a variety of Outpatient Services designed to assist patients in functioning at the highest level. API provides Partial Hospitalization services and Intensive Outpatient services. These programs emphasize symptom management, community integration, and prevention of hospitalization or re-hospitalization. Value-added services enhance the patient's treatment experience. Alvarado Parkway Institute is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as Therapeutic Specialist. The Therapeutic Specialist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide occupational, recreational, music, or art therapy services to adult patients under API/BHS's care for emotional or substance abuse problems. Requirements

  • College level reading, writing, and math skills
  • Assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment.
  • Flexibility
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Teaching or training skills helpful
  • Must exert self-control in volatile or hostile situations.
  • Able to respond well to deadlines.
  • Bachelors' degree in relevant field (e.g., recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or registration preferred.
  • Understanding of, or ability to understand, inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements adjunctive therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintains the clinical and administrative documentation associated with services rendered.
  • Participates in the ongoing implementation of the department’s or service’s continuous quality improvement plan.
  • Participates in the effective allocation of department resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
