About The Position

Provide regular activities that benefit the health and well-being of Health Center residents, matching their interests and assessment information to provide a high quality of life.

Requirements

  • Intermediate computer competency and ability to use and learn a variety of software programs, specifically Microsoft Office programs and electronic health record programs; ability to operate electronic audio-visual equipment.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of quality customer management and service.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively address issues and concerns with diverse populations while showing empathy and compassion.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse leadership team, staff, residents, and third-party associates, including vendors, providers, and visitors.
  • Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential communications and information, while maintaining a high level of poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or other related field; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Valid state driver license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Oklahoma Activity and Social Services Directors training program is preferred.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and implement a well-rounded monthly schedule of recreational activities for assigned Health Center residents that address and meet the needs of varying functional levels.
  • Promote activity participation using resident calendars, newsletters, and mailings to family members to ensure maximum participation of residents.
  • Complete monthly summaries for assigned residents in a timely manner.
  • Participate in weekly Care Conferences to assure that residents' physical and emotional factors are considered in their care plan and communicated to family members as appropriate. Consult, as needed, on skilled residents.
  • Assure that program materials, supplies, and equipment inventory are ordered and maintained to support the schedule of activities.
  • Assist with special events throughout the community, as needed.
