About The Position

SUMMARY The T/R will oversee the daily operation of programming/clinical duties and intermediate situations on a regular and ongoing basis. Must be effective in time management and utilize interpersonal skills to affect positive solutions. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Will be responsible for clinical documentation of residents on their designated units, such as; Care Tracker, Care Plans, MDS, Quarterly and Annual significant changes in notes. Will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating volunteers who work on their unit for the T/R Department; work to include assessing their execution of programming, and clinical documentation as well as be able to demonstrate role model time management technique and offer interventions when necessary. Responsible for coordination between T/R staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible for delegating to T/R or volunteer staff. Responsible for overseeing common area set-ups; will coordinate with set-up team from housekeeping. Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies, equipment, documents, paper, ink, etc. May need to requisition supplies with program director approval. Flexible work schedule; may need to work evenings and weekends. Responsible for adequately providing staffing coverage for evening/weekend special events May assist in payroll Will carry out programs and clinical documentation when covering for another unit or if staffing shortages require. Will attend meetings as designee of Director or Assistants. Will be responsible for coordinating staff meetings and/or in services. Will be responsible for team building within department. Will be responsible for diffusing crisis or situations. Will represent the center practices and policies as well as the policies and practices of the ascribed Therapeutic Recreation Department and appropriate representation of managerial team and other disciplines throughout the center. Will work under the supervision of the Program Director and/or the Therapeutic Recreation Director.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a long-term health care setting, or mental health setting; direct care of seniors who have all types of dementia.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) also required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to lift with the use of lift devices or assistance for residents with weight in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.
