About the position

The Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker responsible for assisting residents with daily living skills and promoting their independence to achieve personal goals. The support provided is tailored to meet the individual needs and capabilities of each resident. The TPW plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by engaging them in various activities and ensuring their daily needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communication, money management, etiquette, and social skills.
  • Implements active treatment activities such as gym, pavilion, activity room, and pool.
  • Assists with planning and shopping activities, including vocational skills and hair appointments.
  • Completes various daily and monthly documentation, including unusual incidents or medication reactions.
  • Performs light housekeeping duties in the living areas.
  • Redirects unsafe actions to promote positive outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with less than 6 points.
  • No experience required.
  • Formal education in arithmetic (addition & subtraction) and in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence as per Ohio Administrative Code 5123:2-3-01(F)(1)(c).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in therapy or therapeutic services.
  • Experience in direct support or direct care.
