The Therapeutic Program Lead role within the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital – Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Unit offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy (Required) OR Master's Degree in Recreation Therapy, Counseling, or other healthcare related field (Preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in therapeutic program coordination or at discretion of Nurse Manager. (Required) and Experience in Montessori Programming (Preferred)
  • 2 years of group facilitation (Required)
  • Knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit setting, behavior management an establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships and boundaries appropriate to age of patient population served. (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of Recovery Model (Required proficiency)
  • Professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills, commitment to interdisciplinary patient care delivery. (Required proficiency)
  • Physical, cognitive and perceptual ability to provide appropriate patient therapies. (Required proficiency)
  • Non-violent crisis prevention training (Required within 90 Days)
  • Non-violent crisis prevention instructor certification (Required within 6 Months)
  • Certification or licensure in respective field. (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is highly preferred. Prior work with children is also strongly preferred. Must have at least 2 years of experience in group facilitation and a minimum of 3 years of in therapeutic program coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluation of therapeutic milieu program and develops effective treatment programs that are appropriate for individual or groups of patients.
  • Provide effective group and individual therapeutic programming in a competent manner.
  • Educate patient/family/caregiver in skills applicable for discharge plan.
  • Initiates collaboration and participates in the interdisciplinary care process.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Educates interdisciplinary team in group process, serves as role model and participates in education of new and existing staff.
  • Perform other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
