About the position

Do you want to use your experience in the mental health field to better the lives of children and families in your community? Join our team of dedicated human services professionals as a Therapeutic Mentor. Therapeutic mentors work together with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to support children with behavioral health challenges to achieve stability and success in the community. Therapeutic mentors help children through providing one to one structured therapeutic activity in the community including modeling, coaching and encouraging achievement of goals that support behavior change and success in the community. Therapeutic mentors work collaboratively with other professionals to provide high quality team-based care. Behavioral Health Network is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that has been providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Western Massachusetts since 1938. We are dedicated to offering high quality and culturally appropriate care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one to one structured therapeutic activity in the community.
  • Model, coach, and encourage achievement of goals that support behavior change.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Support children with behavioral health challenges to achieve stability and success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, associate degree, or Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years' experience working with the target population.
  • Two years' experience working with children.
  • Previous experience working with children with Serious Emotional Disturbance.
  • Familiarity with internet, word processing, and email systems.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of community resources.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Interest in helping others.
  • Ability to create and implement strategies to facilitate achievement of agreed-upon goals.
