About the position

MaineGeneral Health (MGH) is seeking a clinical medical physicist to support radiation treatments within the Department of Radiation Oncology at our Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care. Our center is located in the heart of Maine and is accredited by the ACR in Radiation oncology, the Commission on Cancer and QOPI (Quality oncology practice initiatives). The successful candidate will join a diverse team of professionals whose mission is to improve clinical outcomes, clinical application, multimodality therapies, and computational methods while providing patients with the highest level of safety, efficiency, and accuracy of their treatments. The successful candidate will provide full-time clinical medical physics coverage with a focus on clinical physics and treatment planning. Routine duties include, but are not limited to, regular clinical physics coverage, participation in commissioning, upgrade, repair, acceptance testing, monthly and annual QA of treatment equipment. Position responsibilities also include clinical troubleshooting, initial and weekly chart checks, and other routine clinical physics responsibilities. Treatment planning responsibilities include, but are not limited to, external beam treatment planning including 3D, IMRT, SBRT, SRS, and VMAT to a wide range of treatment sites. The individual will be encouraged to participate in developmental efforts on various clinical physics projects and ACR accreditation consistent with the needs of the Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time clinical medical physics coverage.
  • Participate in commissioning, upgrade, repair, acceptance testing, and QA of treatment equipment.
  • Conduct clinical troubleshooting and initial/weekly chart checks.
  • Perform external beam treatment planning including 3D, IMRT, SBRT, SRS, and VMAT.
  • Engage in developmental efforts on clinical physics projects and ACR accreditation.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Medical Physics, or related field.
  • Board eligible in therapeutic medical physics from the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
