About the position

MaineGeneral Health (MGH) is seeking a clinical medical physicist to support radiation treatments within the Department of Radiation Oncology at our Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care. Our center is located in the heart of Maine and is accredited by the ACR in Radiation oncology, the Commission on Cancer and QOPI (Quality oncology practice initiatives). The successful candidate will join a diverse team of professionals whose mission is to improve clinical outcomes, clinical application, multimodality therapies, and computational methods while providing patients with the highest level of safety, efficiency, and accuracy of their treatments. This position offers hybrid work flexibility as well as the option to work four 10-hour shifts per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time clinical medical physics coverage with a focus on clinical physics and treatment planning.
  • Participate in commissioning, upgrade, repair, acceptance testing, monthly and annual QA of treatment equipment.
  • Conduct clinical troubleshooting, initial and weekly chart checks, and other routine clinical physics responsibilities.
  • Perform external beam treatment planning including 3D, IMRT, SBRT, SRS, and VMAT to a wide range of treatment sites.
  • Participate in developmental efforts on various clinical physics projects and ACR accreditation.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Medical Physics, or related field.
  • Board eligible in therapeutic medical physics from the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Experience with treatment planning is preferred.
  • Recent graduates from residencies are welcome to apply.
