About The Position

The START Therapeutic Coach Lead provides oversight and supervision of the START Therapeutic Coaches through regular check-ins, feedback, coaching, and discussions related to performance or other concerns. This role involves assigning cases to Therapeutic Coaches, assisting with scheduling, planning, and clinical plan development related to assigned caseloads, ensuring appropriate frequency of visits and coordination with the Coordinator based on the level of support needed. The Lead assists Therapeutic Coaches in identifying appropriate strategies and interventions to meet service goals for persons supported, develops materials for coaching sessions, and triages issues as needed, escalating complex cases to supervisors or other START clinical staff accordingly. The Lead monitors the completion of all necessary trainings for staff across the assigned region to ensure compliance with YAI policies and applicable regulations. Additionally, the Lead collaborates with Coordinators and the Clinical Director in all aspects of planning and scheduling related to START Therapeutic Coach utilization, ensuring availability of emergency coaching services when necessary. Regular communication with caregivers and circles of support is essential to monitor services and progress, providing updates regarding care and concerns, and assisting support systems when needed. The Lead ensures that all coaching activities are documented appropriately and maintains all necessary documentation on a timely basis. They also enter required data into START Information Reporting System (SIRS) and other systems as required by state regulations. Participation in meetings with START leadership and community partners is expected, along with facilitating discharge planning meetings and ensuring all assessments and data are completed for successful transitions out of therapeutic coaching services. The Lead serves as Administrator-on-Call on a rotating basis, providing coverage for 24/7 on-call crisis support as needed. Compliance with all relevant regulatory agency requirements, including HIPAA, is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or other Human Services field.
  • At least 2 years' experience working with the I/DD population and/or behavioral health needs.
  • Experience in therapeutic programming for people with challenging behavior.
  • Successful completion of START Coordinator Certification training within 12 months.
  • Ability to provide on-call coverage for crisis services.
  • Ability to travel regularly across assigned regions.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Valid Driver's License required for California and New Jersey assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with START program and services.
  • Two or more years’ experience supervising others in direct service implementation.
  • Experience working with individuals with I/DD with co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Experience working with families and/or social service providers.
  • Verbal and/or written fluency in Spanish highly preferred.
