LOCATION: Dublin, Georgia Therapeutic Child Care (TCC) is not a day care. Rather TCC is a system of therapeutic behavioral care designed to support the children of substance abusing women who are in treatment. Many though not all of these children often suffer from the traumas of sexual abuse, violent child abuse, non-nurturing deprived environments, physical neglect, post-traumatic stress, lack of proper nutrition, unattended medical needs, lack of support for their academic experience, developmental risk issues, fear, anger, embarrassment, low self-esteem among other potential issues as a result of living in the substance abusing environment. TCC is expected to provide a nurturing environment for these children and their mother that addresses and assists families in taking steps toward resolving behavioral issues from a therapeutic perspective. TCC offers a healing atmosphere where various traumatic issues can surface, be addressed and move toward resolution, resulting in healthier behavioral and relational patterns for the children and their families. The environment of TCC should provide nurturing, therapeutic, constructive and pro-active approaches rather than punitive reactions to behavior.
