About The Position

NeuroRestorative, a member of the Sevita family, provides rehabilitation services for people of all ages with brain, spinal cord and medically complex injuries, illnesses and other challenges. In a variety of locations and community-based settings, we offer a range of programs, including vocational and therapy programs, day treatments, and specialized services for infants, children, adolescents, Military Service Members and Veterans. SUMMARY Provides therapeutic recreation-based treatment program opportunities to all program participants. Participates in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan. Participates in the development of recreational therapy programs for Adults and educate the staff in carryover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy
  • Two years of experience in a rehabilitation environment and/or work with persons with neurological and developmental deficits
  • Certification of CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
  • Maintain best practice methods through continued education coursework
  • Knowledge of rehabilitative techniques relative to recreation for persons with diverse neurological impairment
  • Be able to interpret various evaluations and from various disciplines (Neuropsychology, Occupational/Speech/Physical therapies) and the relevance to their practice
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm professional manner
  • Ability to work toward desire goals of facility

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group therapy in a safe and effective manner to all program participants.
  • Completes assessment/evaluation in the areas of Recreational Therapy upon admission of all program participants.
  • Works directly with paraprofessional staff to facilitate training and program participant growth in the areas of Recreational Therapy.
  • Assists in the development of the rehabilitation plan of care to meet the needs of each program participant.
  • Communicates with the program participant, family and funder’s as needed to clearly communicate status and need of services.
  • Remains current and compliant with federal, state and accrediting body regulations and standards.
  • Adheres to work practices consistent with mission, policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all the code of ethics, standards of practice and continuing education requirements of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
  • Procures and maintains all recreational equipment to assure safe and appropriate use by program participants and staff.
  • Advocates and Educates staff, program participants, and families in the areas of recreational therapy and therapeutic recreation.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
