About The Position

The Theatre Technician I/II position at the City of Aspen's Wheeler Opera House involves working closely with the Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, Building Manager, and House Manager to prepare the venue for various productions. This role is essential in ensuring that all technical aspects of the presentations and rentals are executed smoothly and in alignment with the organization's values and mission. The technician will assist in load-ins and load-outs, manage equipment, and maintain the performance space, ensuring that all technical requirements are met for each event. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for maintaining production-related records and reports, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the operations at the Wheeler Opera House. The position requires a strong commitment to service excellence, partnership, stewardship, innovation, and effective communication. The technician must demonstrate interpersonal skills to work well with diverse groups, both internally and externally. A solid understanding of technology is crucial, as the role involves operating various technical equipment, including lighting systems and sound equipment. The technician will also need to possess administrative skills to manage files and records effectively. Emotional intelligence is vital, as the technician will often work in fast-paced and potentially stressful environments. This role is classified as non-exempt and offers an hourly pay range of $24.63 to $29.56, depending on experience. The position is intermittent, requiring flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the programming schedule. The technician will work primarily indoors at the Wheeler Opera House but may also be required to attend meetings and training sessions at various city facilities. The job demands physical capabilities, including lifting, climbing, and maintaining visual acuity, to ensure the safe and effective execution of technical tasks during productions.
