The primary role of the Ruyle Art Collection Manager is to manage the facilities, registration duties, and operations of the Ruyle Art Collection. This part-time endowed staff position stewards the lifetime collection of artwork, as well as drafts, papers, and other archival matter including books, photos, and other materials from the estate of artist and educator Lydia Ruyle. This collection serves as a learning laboratory for curriculum in curatorial studies and public history. Cataloging, digitizing, and archiving are important aspects of this position as well as expanding interpretation, preservation, and educational aspects of the collection. There will be some supervision of interns, volunteers, and student employees associated with the galleries as well as opportunities to collaborate on exhibition installations. The Ruyle Collection Manager reports directly to the Director of the School of Arts and Design and works in dialog with the UNC Director of Galleries, PVA Event staff, and the Dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
