About the position

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our culinary team at the St. James Hotel. As a Line Cook, you will assist the Chef in preparing and executing delicious meals according to our seasonal menus while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and safety. If you have a passion for cooking, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all foods for daily service in accordance with seasonal menus and health/sanitation guidelines.
  • Cook hot and cold food products accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist in food and final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing.
  • Ensure proper portioning and cooking of all menu items.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Chef to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Address guest complaints and problems professionally to ensure satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
  • Understanding of standardized recipes and cooking terminology.
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Familiarity with food allergens and dietary restrictions.
  • Attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with kitchen operations and scratch cooking.
