About The Position

The Placery Cook and Hotel Houseperson is responsible for preparing and maintaining quality food service in The Placery while also supporting hotel operations through cleanliness, organization, and guest service assistance. This role ensures compliance with health department guidelines and brand standards while contributing to an exceptional guest experience. Requirements

  • Prior Line Cook, Quick Order Cook, Banquet Cook, Houseperson, or similar experience preferred
  • Certifications as required by Federal, State, or Local agencies
  • Minimum High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, stocks, and organizes workstations for food production
  • Prepares (thaws, cuts, portions, and stores) food items according to menu standards and brand specifications
  • Uses kitchen tools including knives, measuring utensils, scales, slicers, mixers, steamers, grills, ovens, and other equipment safely and efficiently
  • Checks stock levels in coolers and storage areas; reports shortages and assists with ordering using FIFO method
  • Prepares broiled, baked, grilled, steamed, and fried items following recipes and cooking standards
  • Ensures proper cooking times and temperatures to maintain food safety and highest quality standards
  • Plates food according to brand presentation standards with appropriate garnishments and portions
  • Performs side duties including cleaning, organizing, and inventory management
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and service areas in compliance with health department regulations
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of public areas, storage rooms, meeting spaces, and back-of-house areas
  • Assists with setup and breakdown of meeting rooms and events as needed
  • Supports housekeeping team with linen delivery, trash removal, and supply restocking
  • Responds promptly to guest service requests and assists departments as needed
  • Maintains equipment and reports maintenance issues to management
  • Follows safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Works effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while maintaining professionalism and composure
