About The Position

Radar Systems Field Engineering is seeking a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) Radar Lead for the THAAD KSA Program. This role involves supervising a deployed Field Engineering team supporting the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Radar System. The position requires advanced technical TPY-2 knowledge and proficiency, along with strong leadership qualities such as accountability, collaboration, communication, focus, and flexibility. The selected candidate will be a US Expat, deploying to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) under a Long-Term International Assignment. Prior to deployment, the Radar Lead will serve as an AN/TPY-2 Hardware Technician at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM, and may support other locations like Ft Bliss and Pelham, NH. This pre-deployment phase includes providing technical and PMCS support, corrective maintenance, job order creation, inventory, tool control, and corrosion control for Integration and Acceptance Testing, packaging, and transportation of the Radar to KSA. The role also involves providing backfill support for other deployed personnel OCONUS with little notice. Once deployed, the CLS Radar Lead will supervise and direct a team of three Field Engineers assigned to the radar system and report to the KSA THAAD Program Site Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the troubleshooting and operational checkout of TPY-2 systems.
  • Experience in the planning, production, and management of technical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Electrical or Computer Engineering degree or background
  • Previous work experience with Systems Engineering standard views such as Block Definition Diagrams, Context Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams
  • Working knowledge of Test Systems design, development, integration and verification activities across the product lifecycle
  • Experience performing testability analysis on circuit cards and other assemblies.
  • Experience using the DSI eXpress Testability modeling software
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the operations and maintenance of the AN/TPY-2 radar system in all states and modes including operation, preventive/corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the radar to include calibration of the radar and support/test equipment at required intervals and all its components.
  • Perform radar system equipment inspections (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually) and will ensure equipment requiring calibration is compliant.
  • Maintain all equipment in accordance with the applicable Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), and Technical Orders.
  • Supervise, train and lead a team of 4 Field Engineers through day-to-day operations and THAAD maintenance.
  • Coach, train, develop and mentor the skill set of the KSA THAAD Radar team.
  • Provide performance feedback of their assigned team, to include accountability of team and individual goals.
  • To account for and provide management and the team with an assessment of key developmental needs.
  • Ensure Site Operating Procedures (SOP's) are adhered to.
  • Attend and provide input to radar site related meetings and tag-ups.
  • Install, check out, operate, maintain, repair & modify the TPY-2 equipment.
  • Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.
  • Advise & assist in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operation.
  • Supervise system performance using maintenance of system diagnostics software.
  • Monitor diagnostics to evaluate the functionality of the radar and its components.
  • Restore system to mission capability by performing corrective action procedures.
  • Maintain accurate Activity Log Reports and Inspection Test Record (ITRs)
  • Operate and supervise the ALCS program to ensure all data is entered properly.
  • Perform independent assessments, audits, and special inspections of site activities associated with the radar system as directed by the Raytheon Program Manager
  • Monitors radar diagnostics for any radar system anomalies (e.g., Receiver/Exciter (REX), Beam Steering Generator (BSG) BSG, Antenna/Sub-Array/ TRIMMs)
