About The Position

The Textile Production Employee at Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan's Heartland is responsible for sorting, hanging, and tagging donated merchandise while adhering to production standards. This role is essential in preparing donations for sale, contributing to community support through job training and services. The position operates during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, with no night or weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • No experience necessary.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, and lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack.

Responsibilities

  • Sort through donated goods to determine quality textiles and seasonal merchandise.
  • Hang and tag textiles while maintaining a processing performance of at least 80 pieces per hour with no more than 5% bale.
  • Correctly label carts and Gaylords as 'SEASONAL' or 'BALE' as directed.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with shipping and receiving between locations.
  • Transfer Z-Racks, carts, and Gaylords to the appropriate staging area within the processing area.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by following safety procedures and reporting injuries and safety hazards.
  • Perform good housekeeping skills, including sweeping and cleaning the work area at the end of the shift.
  • Conduct 5-Minute Drills at workstations.
