About The Position

The Texas Rising Star (TRS) Mentor plays a crucial role in strengthening the quality of Early Learning Programs participating in the Texas Rising Star quality rating and improvement system. This position provides practice‑based coaching, mentoring, technical assistance, and professional development support to help programs improve and maintain high‑quality standards. TRS Mentors guide providers through continuous quality improvement, support them in meeting TRS benchmarks, and contribute to elevating early childhood education across the region. This role requires extensive travel, relationship‑building, and a strong understanding of early childhood best practices.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of early childhood experience, including at least 1 year in a classroom serving infants through Pre‑K.
  • Knowledge of assessment tools (ITERS, ECERS, CLI Engage, TRS), coaching methods, adult learning styles, curriculum implementation, and licensing regulations.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, organizational, and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 80%), maintain confidentiality, use virtual platforms, and uphold CCG’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring, observations, and individualized coaching to Early Learning Programs to support both initial TRS certification and ongoing quality improvement.
  • Deliver Practice‑Based Coaching and technical assistance using data, SMART goal‑setting, TRS tools, CLASS, and other quality frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Initiatives Unit by recommending trainings, sharing resources, and supporting professional development needs.
  • Guide programs through grant opportunities—assisting with applications, implementation, and use of materials.
  • Maintain documentation, certifications, and performance benchmarks while attending meetings, events, and recruitment activities.
