About The Position

The Testing Specialist is responsible for the secure, efficient, and professional administration of exams at the University Testing and Education Center (UTEC). This role ensures compliance with institutional and national testing standards while providing a supportive environment for students. The specialist will coordinate and administer a variety of exams, troubleshoot technical and procedural issues, and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all testing processes. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education - High School or Equivalent
  • Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations

Nice To Haves

  • Education - Associate's or Bachelor's Degree and experience working in a high-volume, customer-centric environment
  • Certification as a PearsonVue and/or Kryterion and/or Meazure proctor

Responsibilities

  • Exam Administration & Student Support: Set up the testing environment and verify student identity. Administer accommodated, non-accommodated, makeup, and distance learning exams. Monitor exams to ensure academic integrity and address procedural or technical issues. Assist students while upholding testing standards and protocols. Report and document any testing irregularities or misconduct.
  • Exam Preparation & Return: Print exams, gather passwords, and prepare materials (e.g., scratch paper, instruction sheets). Package completed exams for instructor pickup or scan and email them per faculty agreements. Maintain accurate records of exam handling and return procedures.
  • Technical & Procedural Troubleshooting: Resolve basic computer or testing software issues. Communicate with faculty to clarify test instructions or resolve missing information. Ensure students are fully prepared and supported upon arrival.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality: Adhere to UTEC, Clemson University, and National Collegiate Testing Association (NCTA) standards. Maintain strict confidentiality of test materials and student information. Ensure secure storage and handling of all testing materials.
  • Testing Site Operations & Certification: Clean and secure testing rooms daily. Obtain and maintain certifications in PearsonVue, Meazure, and Kryterion. Demonstrate strong judgment, initiative, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, standing-intensive environment.
