About The Position

Testing Services Supervisor Huntsman is seeking a Testing Services Supervisor supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This position will report to the Technology & Innovation Director. Job Scope The Testing Services Supervisor is responsible for managing the overall operation and administration of laboratory testing services at the Auburn Hills location. This role supports product development and customer service efforts through wet chemical testing and mechanical property testing of polyurethane materials, while ensuring compliance with A2LA and ISO 9001 accreditation requirements. The position plays a critical role in integrating laboratory services into the broader Polyurethanes development organization and adapting capabilities to evolving business needs. In summary, as the Testing Services Supervisor, you will: Lead and manage the daily activities of the testing services team (approximately 5 technicians), ensuring samples are tested according to defined standards and timelines. Ensure full compliance with company, site, business, and safety policies, including Ethics, Training, Hazard Assessment, and Incident Investigation. Manage the operation of the physical and chemical testing laboratories in accordance with A2LA and ISO 9001 accredited procedures. Maintain and successfully pass accreditation audits for A2LA and ISO 9001. Prepare monthly and annual reports on workflow volume, laboratory capacity, and utilization. Establish and execute an annual continuous improvement plan. Expand and implement new testing capabilities to meet evolving product development requirements. Collaborate globally with other Huntsman laboratories to share best practices and harmonize testing methodologies. Evaluate, propose, and manage the acquisition of capital equipment in line with approved budgets. Administer the Testing Services annual budget and control laboratory expenses. Develop and execute plans to ensure timely completion of testing programs and test development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience with physical property testing and analytical chemistry testing equipment and procedures.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in laboratory testing capabilities.
  • Proven experience maintaining A2LA and ISO 9001 accreditations, including successful audit management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to direct and motivate technical teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal customers, peers, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple simple and complex activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize laboratory activities to meet business and customer needs.
  • Effective problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills across technical and functional teams.
