About The Position

This position serves day-to-day operations of Disability Services for students throughout their University experience, from initial enrollment through graduation from Florida Polytechnic University. The role will determine, provide, or arrange for the provision of appropriate academic or other university accommodations through their living, learning and any services or programs provided, in addition adaptive and assistive technology supports as determined in the eligibility process. Programming and educational opportunities for the University community will be expected throughout the semesters. This role also functions as a liaison and resource to faculty, staff and residential life/dormitory leasing personnel on disability services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Services or related field.
  • 3 years of work-related experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of work-related experience specifically with students with disabilities at a college level.
  • Prior use of the AIM software system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support services to students with disabilities.
  • Assess and determine disability accommodations at the post-secondary level.
  • Interpret medical and diagnostic reports and summarize them for service implications.
  • Communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner.
  • Provide high-level interactive and deliberative service to others.
  • Advocate on behalf of students with disabilities.
  • Handle busy work cycles that may include evenings and weekends.
