POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused Plating Tester to support the inspection and verification of plated components within the manufacturing process. In this role, you will be responsible for testing plated parts to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring that all plated materials meet required performance and durability standards. RESPONSIBILITIES Plating Inspection & Testing: Perform testing and inspection of plated components to verify coating thickness, adhesion, appearance, and compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Test Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain plating test equipment such as X-ray thickness gauges, micrometers, microscopes, and other inspection tools used to measure plating quality and composition. Documentation & Reporting: Record test results, inspection findings, and quality data accurately in required logs, databases, or quality systems. Report any non-conforming results to quality and production teams. Quality Verification: Verify that plated parts meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards prior to release for further processing or shipment. Process Monitoring: Monitor plating process outputs and perform routine sample testing to ensure consistency and detect potential process deviations. Non-Conformance Support: Assist with identifying defects such as blistering, peeling, poor adhesion, or insufficient coating thickness and support corrective action investigations. Equipment Calibration & Care: Ensure testing instruments are properly calibrated, maintained, and used according to established procedures. Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, wear required PPE, and comply with chemical handling, environmental, and workplace safety standards related to plating operations. Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe testing and inspection area to support efficient workflow and compliance with quality standards. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED Previous experience in plating inspection, quality testing, or manufacturing quality control preferred Familiarity with plating processes such as nickel, zinc, tin, or similar coatings preferred Experience using precision measuring tools and testing equipment Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and quality reporting Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or inconsistencies Ability to follow written procedures, technical specifications, and quality standards PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS This position may require standing for extended periods, handling small components, lifting up to 30–40 lbs, and working in a manufacturing or plating environment. Exposure to industrial environments including plating chemicals, noise, and manufacturing equipment. Flexibility to work different shifts or overtime as needed.
