About The Position

The Collins Aerospace Uniontown, OH site focuses on products in the areas of aircraft ice protection, potable water systems, and specialty heated applications. In this internship role you will learn about a wide variety of products that support the helicopter, commercial, business, and general aviation markets. Ice protection applications include active ice protection components such as pneumatic wing and horizontal stabilizer de-icers and electrothermal heated composite leading edges. Other heated composite and specialty heated components such as heated floor panels and air heaters are used to assist with environmental control in the cabin of an aircraft. Potable water systems contain many different components such as water tanks, motorized valves, water pumps, heated water lines, water heaters, and many other components that have to be designed and incorporated on an aircraft to supply fresh water to the passengers. This position is for a test & validation engineering summer intern that will support test engineering with a passion to learn more and gain experience in the test engineering discipline in the aerospace industry. This position is onsite, in Uniontown, Ohio. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Student must be pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering .
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic understanding and some experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, and CAD software such as AutoCAD and Inventor.

Responsibilities

  • You will support the design and fabrication of electrical and/or mechanical test fixtures.
  • You will develop test artifacts including test plans, procedures, reports, and manuals.
  • You will build and fabricate product prototypes and hardware.
  • You will utilize laboratory/test equipment including universal testers, environmental chambers, vibration table, ovens, an icing wind tunnel, etc.
  • You will work as part of an integrated team and receive technical guidance/input from other engineers and technicians.
