About The Position

The Test Technician is responsible for executing functional, in-circuit, and system-level testing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures products meet customer specifications, IPC standards, and internal quality requirements prior to shipment. The Test Technician works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to troubleshoot failures, support root cause analysis, maintain test equipment, and ensure efficient throughput while maintaining Class 3 workmanship standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of electronics testing or electronics technician experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret: Schematics Assembly drawings Bill of Materials (BOM) Test procedures
  • Experience troubleshooting to component level
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (Class 2 and/or Class 3 preferred)
  • Proficiency using standard bench test equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced production environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a PCBA contract manufacturing environment
  • Aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems
  • Experience supporting NPI builds
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics or related field

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing of PCBAs using: In-Circuit Test (ICT) Functional Test (FCT) Boundary Scan (if applicable) Burn-in / Environmental testing (as required)
  • Execute test procedures per customer documentation and internal work instructions
  • Accurately record test results in ERP/MES systems (e.g., Voyager or equivalent)
  • Identify and document failures clearly and thoroughly
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting using: Digital multimeters Oscilloscopes Power supplies Signal generators Logic analyzers (as applicable)
  • Isolate defects to board, component, or process level
  • Clearly communicate failure modes to Engineering and Rework teams
  • Support root cause analysis efforts
  • Set up and verify test fixtures and cables
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on test equipment
  • Assist Engineering with test fixture validation and new product introduction (NPI) test support
  • Identify opportunities to improve test flow and efficiency
  • Follow IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards (Class 2 and Class 3)
  • Maintain traceability and proper documentation for aerospace/medical/defense customers
  • Adhere to ESD control procedures and quality system requirements
  • Support internal and external audits as required
