An RF Test Technician performs electrical and RF testing on Power Grid/Magnetron tubes and related assemblies. This role supports production and engineering by operating specialized test equipment, documenting results, and troubleshooting performance issues. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team under limited supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; AA degree, technical training, or military experience is a plus
  • Typically 2–5 years of hands-on electronic or RF testing experience
  • Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance
  • Knowledge of microwave/RF test equipment and high-voltage safety practices
  • Ability to follow procedures, interpret specifications, and perform testing accurately
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, databases, time entry systems)
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work overtime/weekends as needed
  • Ability to rework or repair nonconforming assemblies

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and RF testing on tubes and assemblies, comparing results to specifications and documenting outcomes
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate specialized test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, network analyzers, and high-voltage power supplies
  • Troubleshoot device performance issues and collaborate with engineering teams to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Record, analyze, and report detailed test data while maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with company and government standards
  • Support development and improvement of test procedures, fixtures, and diagnostic methods
  • Follow high-voltage safety protocols and ESD-sensitive handling procedures
  • Handle controlled or classified components in compliance with U.S. Government security requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support production schedules and directives, including overtime when needed
