The Test Technician is a hands-on technical role responsible for building, maintaining, and troubleshooting production test equipment used to validate complex electrical and electro-mechanical products. This position plays a critical role in enabling safe, accurate, and repeatable testing by ensuring test systems are properly assembled, functional, and ready to support production. This role is ideal for a technically skilled individual who enjoys working directly with hardware, diagnosing issues in real time, and partnering with engineering and manufacturing teams to keep testing operations running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience building, wiring, or troubleshooting industrial equipment, test systems, or automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with tools, instruments, and test equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production test environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety practices and lockout/tagout.
  • Experience supporting high-mix or complex products.
  • Exposure to UL, electrical testing, or compliance environments.
  • Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, or data acquisition systems

Responsibilities

  • Build, wire, and validate new test stations, fixtures, and test equipment to support production and product validation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing test equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and control-related issues.
  • Support production testing by diagnosing test failures and determining whether issues are related to the product, test setup, or test equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and verification of test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Follow and help improve test procedures, work instructions, and safety practices.
  • Document test equipment builds, modifications, and repairs.
  • Partner with Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations to improve test reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
  • Assist with root cause analysis of test-related defects and failures.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify test setups, improve ergonomics, and reduce test cycle time.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient test area.
