About The Position

The Test Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and validating industrial control panels to ensure they meet quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable electrical codes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product reliability, safety, and performance prior to shipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years of experience in electrical testing, panel building, or industrial controls
  • Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certification(s) Required: None
  • Abilities Required: An understanding of electrical wiring. Must have basic knowledge of standard wiring procedures which include proper wire gauge, crimping and torque specifications. Willing to work with production and/or individually as a self-starter. Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn the company’s quality control system. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PLC (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • Knowledge of UL508A, UL698 standards and industrial panel compliance
  • Experience using electrical test equipment
  • Understanding of motor controls, VFDs, and automation systems

Responsibilities

  • Point-to-point wiring inspections
  • Collaborate with Quality Control Manager and Production to assist with assigned FAT tests to ensure that all panels tested meet the customer and Soffa Electric Standards.
  • Check for wiring layout and labeling.
  • Perform visual inspections, check and can confirm that the parts are rated for the application.
  • Reviews design, manufacturing, and testing documentation.
  • Document test results, defects, and rework performed
  • Ability to read and understand Schematics and Wiring Diagrams
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Ability to read Electrical and Mechanical Diagrams, Drawings and Instructions
  • Knowledge of Relay and Timer Logic
  • Identifies the root cause of quality problems and can coordinate the corrections or other alternative solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (UL, NEC, etc.)
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
